Latest legislative changes in the state of emergency – suspension of court proceedings deadlines and increase of minimum wage
The following changes in the legislation have been adopted:
The expiration of the court proceedings deadlines is being suspended during the state of emergency; and
The Government of the Republic of North Macedonia has adopted a decree with a force of law with which most of the deadlines in the court proceedings have been suspended and they cannot expire during the existence of the state of emergency in the country.
All deadlines for initiation of proceedings in front of any court or enforcement agent, filing of legal remedies or taking other legal actions in the already started proceedings are suspended, starting as of 31th March 2020 and would continue after the end of the state of emergency.
There is an exception in respect to appeals and extraordinary legal remedies in criminal and misdemeanor proceedings.
On a separate note, in accordance with the notification published by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, as of 1st of April 2020 the new gross amount of the minimum wage shall be MKD 21,776.
